What: A panel discussion
explaining proper transition procedures and assessing
the status of nationwide preparations for the February 17, 2009
transition from analog to digital transmission of television
broadcast signals, expected to over 35+ million Americans, a
disproportionate number includes elderly, minority
(African-American, Hispanic, Asian, etc.), disabled, and rural U.S.
citizens.
Why: Inadequate public
awareness exists of the profound impact on many millions
of people and of proper procedures to facilitate adequate reception
of the new signal after the transition. The need for expanded
communications is urgent.
